Why we’re asking

The same job, quoted by different roofers, is not the same number.

$5,414 – $9,380

QUOTED FOR ONE IDENTICALLY SPECIFIED SEATTLE RE-ROOF

Undercover shoppers asked Seattle-area roofing companies to quote the same carefully specified re-roofing job. The highest quote came in nearly $4,000 above the lowest. The same research found no relationship between what a company charged and how its customers rated its work.

Most owners never see that spread, because most owners only ever get one quote. That is what this audit is trying to measure, and the only way to measure it is to read real quotes that real Seattle owners were actually handed.

What you get back

A read of the document, in minutes.

1

Upload the quote

A PDF or a photo of the page. Whatever the contractor gave you: a formal proposal, a one-line total, a text with a number in it.

2

QuoteStak reads it against the trade

Every trade has work a complete job normally itemizes. QuoteStak checks your quote against that list and shows you which of it appears in writing and which of it doesn't.

3

You get the questions to ask

Gaps become specific questions for your contractor: what's an allowance and what's a fixed price, what grade of material is actually specified, what happens if there's rot underneath.

What QuoteStak will not tell you:whether your price is a good one. A single quote has nothing to compare against, so any verdict on the number would be invented. What a document does and doesn’t say is checkable, so that is what you get.

What we publish

The findings are a picture of the market, not of you.

Aggregate only

On October 8, 2026 we publish what the quotes showed as a group: how far apart they ran, and what got left off most often. Ranges and patterns, nothing else.

Nobody is named

No individual quote is published. No contractor is named, ranked, or identified. Not in the findings, not anywhere. We are measuring a market, not reviewing companies.

You are not named either

Your quote is yours. It is read to produce your check and counted toward the totals. Your name, your address and your contractor's name are no part of what gets published.

Free, and no contractor pays us

Contractors are never charged by QuoteStak, for this or anything else. There is no fee to you for the check, and nothing to sign up for.
